What is Waxing?
A wax combination is spread thinly over the skin, then removed with one quick action which removes the wax along with the hair and dead skin cells leaving the skin silky smooth.

What is hot waxing?
Waxing involves spreading hot wax onto the area where you want to eliminate hair. The hair becomes embedded in the wax as it cools and hardens. The wax is then pulled off quickly in the opposite direction of the hair growth, removing wax, hair, root, and all.
Generally hot wax is used on sensitive areas of the body.

What is strip waxing?
Waxing involves spreading hot wax onto the area where you want to eliminate hair, the hair becomes embedded in the wax and then applying a strip of cloth or muslin onto the desired area, rubbing it, and removing the strip quickly from the body.

Naturally different clients have different requirements when it comes to time allocations. Above are the time allocations we allow when making your booking and are based on the times when you arrive and leave the salon.

Should I shave before waxing?
DO NOT SHAVE for two weeks prior to your waxing appointment.
Shower and clean your entire body thoroughly before the appointment.

How often do I need to wax?
You will need to wax every four to six weeks. So you may want to consider making your next appointment before you check out.

How long does my hair need to be for waxing to be most effective?
In order for waxing to be most effective hair length should be 1cm to 2 cm long depending on the thickness of the hair.

Is it permanent?
No, but with regular treatments, the hairs become softer, sparser and often lighter in colour, therefore less noticeable between treatments. As the hairs are removed with the root, waxing will not promote growth like shaving or using hair removal creams.

All body parts can be waxed.

What is Brazilian waxing?
Brazilian hair waxing refers to hair removal around the anus, perineum and scrotum. (The perineum is the area located between the anus and the scrotum).
After underwear is removed, the beautician asks the client to lie down and raise the legs. Talc may be sprinkled all over the bottom, anus and scrotum areas. Hot wax is then spread over this area and removed in one quick action.

Are treatments done with discretion?
Face of Man has a strict client confidentiality policy.
All treatments are carried out in the privacy of treatment rooms.

What do I wear during a Speedo wax?
We do provide disposable undergarments to prevent your undergarments form getting wax on them. It is your choice if you would like to wear the disposables or not

Does it hurt less the second time?
Yes, the more often you get it done the softer the hair becomes and the more used to the sensation your body becomes. Those that leave it 3 or 4 months between waxes can usually expect a sensation similar to when they had their first appointment.

Are there any health precautions to keep in mind with hair waxing?
Some physicians do not recommend hair waxing for persons suffering from diabetes or who have varicose veins or poor circulation as they are more susceptible to infection.
Users of Retin-A, Renova, Differin or Accutane are advised not to use hair waxing on the face as these medications tend to weaken the skin and tearing of the skin may occur when the wax is removed.
Hair waxing should not be done on areas of skin affected by warts, pimples, moles or rashes or on skin that is irritated, chapped or suffering from sunburn. Never apply wax to peeling, broken skin or varicose veins

ELECTROLYSIS

What is it?
While electrolysis sounds more threatening, the premise behind this method is that a needle zaps the hair at its root and kills it.

Is it permanent?
Electrolysis offers permanent results, but of course, there is no guarantee and effectiveness varies from man to man, hair follicle to hair follicle. This procedure must be performed by a professional electrologist and requires weekly appointments for optimal results. The upside is that electrolysis weakens hairs at the root and eventually eliminates growth.
